Description
A large natural moldavite, faceted as an oval, weighing 18.85 ct (3.77 g). Moldavite is a green tektite glass formed about 15 million years ago by a meteorite impact, found only in the Czech Republic.
Tested, not guessed: specific gravity measured at 2.35 (3.77 g in air, 1.61 g displaced water, see the scale photos). Natural moldavite falls in the 2.32 to 2.38 range, while the green glass sold as "moldavite" is around 2.5.
Under magnification it shows the typical moldavite signs: many small round gas bubbles and swirling flow lines inside the stone. These are natural features, not damage.
