Antique Chinese Carved and Polychrome Gilt Wood Figure of a Seated Deity

A Chinese carved wood figure of a seated male deity on an integral throne with stepped, footed base.

The face is lacquered in red with painted features and inserted hair beard and sideburns. The figure wears robes decorated in raised gilt relief with polychrome details in green, blue, and red, and holds a staff with a woven tassel.

Wear consistent with age: losses to the gilt and painted surface as photographed. The underside carries an old chalk inscription reading “SW 1912.”
